Kilig Shot

Kung may jump shot, back shot, at wacky shot... may kilig shot. At para sa amin ng Hubby ko, ito 'yun!

Ano'ng masasabi mo? Aaaawwww... debba! Our good friend, Bong , is responsible for this nice photo. Thanks, Bong!

Run, Baby, Run!

This month, Hubby and I joined two running events only -- the Yamaha Run for Heroes and Takbo.ph Runfest.

Yamaha Run for Heroes (5km)
Bonifacio Global Center
July 3, 2011

The Yamaha Run for Heroes was our first Runrio event and we were not disappointed. The event was well-organized. Orientation and warm-up were conducted per distance category. Everything went on schedule. There were enough water stations and kilometer markings making the entire run fun and stress-free for Hubby and me.

(We were kinda hoping for more freebies, though. Ssssh! Hehehe.)

Takbo.ph Run Fest (5km)
Bonifacio Global Center
July 24, 2011

We had to choose between this and Runrio's Rexona Run. We went for Takbo.ph Runfest because of the location (we prefer BGC over MOA) and the finisher's medal. Medyo konti ang runners ng event na ito, we noticed. The run was okay because the route was different from our other BGC runs. We liked the finisher's medal, too. Wala nga lang finisher's kit. (Note to self: You can't have it all, Maan!)

As I said here , we plan to join more running events in the coming months (2 per month will be okay, I think). Lately, I have been asking myself (and my bro who is also a runner) if it's time to try the 10-km distance category. Hubby is happy with 5km and doesn't want to level up yet. Let's see.

Thirteen Years of Love and Happiness

Sorry for this late post about our wedding anniversary.

Hubby and I celebrated our 13th wedding anniversary last January 24. Walang halong bola ang title ng post na ito... 13 years of love and happiness talaga!

How can you not be filled with love and happiness when you have a hubby as sweet and wonderful as mine ?

Why We Love Dadu

"Dadu" is Hubby's dad. He celebrated his 68th birthday last July 13. Everybody loves Dadu and I can tell you why.

As Mamu's hubby...

• Dadu is Mamu’s #1 fan. He always makes kwento that when Mamu was still a dalaga, she looked like Helen Gamboa.
• Dadu is very sweet. After 43 years of marriage, he still never forgets to give Mamu a kiss before he leaves for work and when he gets home at the end of the day.
• Every single day, Dadu buys a copy of People’s Tonight… because it is part of Mamu’s daily read.
• Dadu is Mamu’s knight in shining armor. Nobody messes with Mamu because, for sure, Dadu will come to her rescue.
• Dadu loves Mamu unconditionally. I have been part of the family for thirteen years and I have seen how much love and loyalty he has for her.

As our Dad...

• Dadu drives all the ladies in the house (my sisters-in-law and also me when Hubby had to do fieldwork in Pampanga) to and from work.
• Dadu is our very reliable “handyman.” I tell you, he can fix almost anything there is to fix at home! Clap! Clap! Clap!
• Dadu’s ability to fix things goes beyond water leaks. Things can get really crazy at home and when they do, Dadu remains sensible. He always has the right things to say. We all listen to him. Kumbaga sa computer, siya ang aming central processing unit. =)
• Dadu is our role model. He is the epitome of goodness and selflessness.

As the Dadu of our kids...

• Dadu maintains a special bond with his grandchildren. All the kids at home look forward to playtime with Dadu.
• Dadu is the official “sumbungan ng bayan.” All kiddie quarrels are settled when he steps in. See, even our kids listen to him!

Thank you, Dadu! We always pray that you remain healthy and happy. We love you! =)

Hubby and I ♥ Running

Back in college, I ran around the academic oval when I was stressed out, had a bad day, or when I needed to clear my mind. Running also introduced me to the love of my life, my hubby.

Three kids after, Hubby and I decided to go back to running... this time, to help us shed off the extra pounds we gained over the years.

Here are some running events we joined this 2011:

iRun for Hope - A Run for Cancer Survivors (2.5km)
Wild Life, Circumferential Road, Quezon City
(April 30, 2011)

Heritage Run (3km)
Intramuros, Manila
May 15, 2011

Brooks Run Happy (3km)
Bonifacio Global Center
May 22, 2011

Run for Integrity Towards a New Philippines (3km)
Bonifacio Global Center
May 29, 2011

Reebok Zigtech Run (5km)
Bonifacio Global Center
June 5, 2011

Merrell Adventure Run (5km)
Timberland Heights, San Mateo
June 18, 2011

I hope we get to join more running events in the coming months despite the workload and mommy/daddy duties. Gotta burn those calories. Gotta get rid of the extra pounds.

Saturday Movie Night: UP

Saturday nights are movie nights for the family. We bring food and drinks to the master's bedroom and watch a movie together. The kids look forward to movie nights because, normally, they aren't allowed to bring food and drinks inside the room. Neither are they allowed to stay up late at night.

At first, I wasn't so keen about the idea of watching UP last Saturday. I can't remember a kiddie/cartoon movie I liked after "The Incredibles." I was expecting to watch a vampire or zombie movie. Hehehe... But anyway, the boys requested for UP, so Hubby and I agreed. I wasn't paying so much attention at first because I didn't expect to enjoy the movie that much.
But guess what... after "Life is Beautiful," Hubby and I finally found our next favorite movie... and yes, it's UP.

I was so blown away by the movie. I liked Carl and Ellie's love story...no, I was so moved by their love story. I didn't expect that the movie can tackle some sensitive issues... like not being able to have a child, or losing the one you love, or things not turning out as planned.

It was a good time to talk to the kids that you don't have to be in a hurry when it comes to love. When you're meant for each other, you'll end up together. We were also able to talk to them about the reality that, like Carl and Ellie, not all couples can have kids but the love and relationship should not end there. They also took note of how Carl and Ellie had to save for a vacation and how they had to postpone the plan because something always came up... like a house or a car repair. But they remained positive. They remained happy. They lived simply but were happy because they have each other.

I realized a part of Ellie lives in me... I found my adventure when I became a wife and a mom and I couldn't be happier.
